To replace the shift knob on a Ford F-150, use a screwdriver to pry off the chrome cover at the back of the knob. Once the cover is removed, unscrew the screw underneath with the appropriate screwdriver.

After removing this screw, you can pull the old knob off the top of the shift lever. Once it is removed, insert the new knob and secure it with the screw at the back; then cover this part by inserting the chrome piece.
