The electric fuse is a device that protects a circuit from overcurrents. The fuse consists of a cartridge, through which a thin conductor wire passes, carrying the nominal current of the circuit to be protected; this wire is the actual fusible element, with a specific amperage rating.

When an overcurrent occurs, the filament melts, causing the circuit to open. With this introduction on the function of fuses, in the case of the Ford C-Max MK2, there are three fuse boxes: one in the cabin, on the passenger side, under the glove compartment; one in the engine bay, near the left front shock absorber mount (driver's side), and one in the boot, on the left side panel.
