How to Replace the Oil and Oil Filter on a Ford Escape

To start changing the oil and oil filter on a Ford Escape, open the hood, go to the bottom of the vehicle, and remove the oil drain plug with a 13mm wrench. Position a container underneath. Once the oil has drained, clean the drain plug and reinstall it. Now, move to the front of the vehicle, still underneath, and locate the oil filter: use a specific tool to unscrew it, keeping a container underneath. After draining the oil from the filter, install the new filter, making sure to apply some oil to the gasket first. In the owner's manual, based on our engine (2.3L), we find the type of oil (5W-20) and the quantity (4.5 qt). Now, take the oil, remove the fill cap, insert a funnel, and pour in the correct amount of oil. After filling, keep the vehicle running for 1-2 minutes, then turn it off and wait a few minutes. Finally, take the oil dipstick, clean it, reinsert it, remove it again, and check if the oil is at the "max" level. If not, add more oil.
