Ford Escort - Video tutorial

Model: Ford Escort MK 4 - Years 1990-2000
Part: Engine
Operation: Replacement of cylinder head fixing pins

When carrying out maintenance work that required disassembly of the cylinder head, it is good practice to use a new set of pins for subsequent fixing; start by reworking the fixing holes on the cylinder base with a tap of the correct diameter and pitch, taking care not to let chip residues end up in the cylinders; then position the new cylinder head gasket and the cylinder head itself, apply copper grease to the bottom of the threads and under the head of the new pins and proceed with tightening following a crossed pattern, using first the torque wrench and then the graduated one.

First of all we open the front door, on the driver's side, and start pulling the opening lever of the engine hood, in order to open the lock; then let's move to the front of the vehicle and unhook the tab that we find on the central part, above the manufacturer's emblem, as shown in the video. At this point we block the bonnet with the lateral rod; then we accompany the bonnet down to close it again!
