In this guide, learn how to change the front brake discs on a Ford Fiesta V: first, open the brake fluid reservoir, then lift the front of the vehicle and support it on axle stands. Next, remove the front wheels to gain better access to the discs.

Use a flat screwdriver to lift the retaining spring of the brake pads and remove it. Then, turn the disc outward: insert a flat screwdriver into the caliper slot to release it, and then, using a small tool, remove the cap from the guide bolt. Using a 7mm Allen key, remove the two guide bolts and take off the caliper, securing it to one of the suspension spring coils to avoid damaging the brake hose.

Remove the brake pads, and then use a 13mm socket to loosen the caliper support bolts. Now you can take off the disc, and clean the hub with a wire brush, then lubricate it with copper grease.

The new disc should be cleaned with brake cleaner before installation: also, the support bolts must be lubricated with copper grease. Then, reattach the caliper and the brake pads, one of which should be mounted externally and one on the piston, which you will reattach from where you left it. Refit the guide bolts, then reattach the retaining spring.

Repeat the process on the other side, after which you can refit the wheels and lower the vehicle. Job done.
