Procedure for Replacing Spark Plugs

This tutorial explains how to replace the spark plugs on a Honda Civic. First, ensure that the operations are carried out with the engine completely cold. Use a screwdriver to remove the plastic cover that covers the spark plugs. Now, for each spark plug, disconnect the wiring: if you cannot do this manually, use a small lever and a screwdriver for assistance. Now, using a ratchet spanner, remove the bolt that secures the lead and extract it. Now that you have access to the well where the spark plug is located, using a ratchet spanner with an extension and a socket designed for spark plugs, unscrew the spark plug and remove it. Take the new spark plug and before inserting it, adjust the electrode gap. Insert the new spark plug and, using a ratchet spanner with an 18 mm socket, tighten it well (but be careful not to overtighten to avoid damaging the thread). Reinsert the lead, reattach the securing bolt, and reconnect the wiring. Perform the same operations for the four spark plugs. Refit the protective plastic cover.
