Checking Transmission Oil Level

Model: Honda Civic MK 8 - Years 2006-2012

This video illustrates the system for checking the level (quantity inside the sump) of the transmission oil. Open the front bonnet of the vehicle and locate a dipstick with a coloured rubber hook; on this model, it is found low down behind the vehicle's battery. Pull the dipstick out firmly and remove it completely from its housing. At this point, use a cloth to wipe the metal end clean of any oil, reinsert the dipstick fully (as if putting it back in place) and remove it again. Now check the level. On the dipstick, at the end, you will find markings; particularly, against the smooth part of the stick, there is a marked section that indicates the sufficient range within which the oil does not need to be replaced. If the stick is dirty with oil, that part indicates the oil is still sufficient; however, if it moves below that mark, it indicates low oil (as shown in the video) and should be replaced. Tools: a dry cloth.
