How to Change the Engine Oil of My Honda Civic 1.6 by Myself

To change the engine oil and oil filter of a Honda Civic in your home garage, you can do it yourself, but it requires some skill. First, open the bonnet. Go under the car and locate the oil sump, which has the label "engine oil" indicating the oil drain plug. Unscrew the oil filler cap and lift the dipstick. Then, using a 17 mm socket, unscrew the oil drain plug, placing a container underneath. After draining the oil, clean the plug and refit it. Using a special tool for filters, unscrew the oil filter, again placing a container underneath. Lubricate the new filter with a bit of fresh oil and refit it. Go to the top, and using a funnel, pour in the litres of oil specified by the manufacturer. Reinsert the dipstick, remove it, clean it, and reinsert it again. Pull it out once more and check the oil level. If necessary, top up the oil; otherwise, close the oil filler cap and replace the dipstick. Finally, close the bonnet.
