How to Change the Oil and Oil Filter on a Honda Civic

To change the engine oil and oil filter on a Honda Civic, follow these steps: Open the bonnet, go under the car, and locate the oil sump where you will find a label "engine oil" indicating the oil drain plug. Unscrew the oil filler cap and lift the dipstick. Using a 17mm socket, unscrew the oil drain plug while placing a container underneath. Once the oil has drained, clean the plug and refit it. Using a filter wrench, unscrew the oil filter, again placing a container underneath. Lubricate the new filter with a bit of fresh oil and screw it back on. Go to the top, using a funnel, pour in the specified litres of oil. Reinsert the dipstick, remove it, clean it, and reinsert it again. Pull it out once more and check the oil level; top up if necessary, otherwise close the oil filler cap and replace the dipstick. Finally, close the bonnet.
