In the Hyundai I20 (like in many modern cars), the original gear knob is integrated with the airbag system, so removing it without precautions can trigger an airbag error, as the control unit interprets the disconnection as a fault. To avoid this, disconnect the battery before starting, and do not turn on the car during installation. Remove the old gear knob by pulling firmly, then disconnect the electrical connector that connects the knob to the airbag; in many cases, it is necessary to install an adapter to fit the Sparco gear knob properly, as shown in the video: Push it in firmly, tighten the locking screw with a socket wrench, connect the airbag connector, and reconnect the battery.
