How to Remove the Car Radio and Add a Subwoofer

The following video shows the procedure for removing the car radio from a Hyundai Elantra. Start from the bottom edge of the frame (as shown in the figure); using a screwdriver, pry firmly and begin to detach the frame; gently pull the side piece towards you until it is completely removed. Perform the same operation on the other side. Once the frame is detached, you will see the clips that held it in place. In the next step, locate and remove the six screws securing the black cover. Now, using your fingers, detach the cover by popping it off from both the top and bottom. Before removing the head unit, you will need to remove four more screws securing it. Now disconnect the four wiring connections. At this point, visit www.hmaservice.com to find the installation diagram. The video then shows a line converter that allows a set of RCA connections. One important thing to note: the diagram should be viewed from the perspective where the wires enter the wiring. Now prepare the line converter by uncovering its wires from the casing. Connect the wires as shown in the video (if you have a small soldering iron, it's better; otherwise, use wire connectors as shown in the video). Under the dashboard, where the clutch is, make a small pilot hole followed by a larger one to pass the wiring to connect to the battery. Use a rubber grommet to avoid damaging the wiring (or use silicone).
