Gearbox Oil Replacement Instructions

Replacing the gearbox oil is a maintenance task that is often overlooked and is frequently not included in the manufacturer's maintenance schedule. It is clear that running the gears in fresh, clean oil is optimal, so it is recommended to change the oil every 37,000 miles, especially considering that generally no more than 2 kg is required. Perform this maintenance with the engine cold, as the drain plug is located just above the exhaust. Lift the vehicle on suitable axle stands and remove the splash guard. Then, unscrew both the filler cap and the drain plug to facilitate drainage. Clean the drain plug and refit it before adding the new oil: the level is reached when oil starts to overflow.
