First of all, the timing can be altered to achieve more torque, more power, and a more efficient engine.

We know of BMWs that have had issues with the chain at 70,000 to 80,000 miles, even though chains generally have a lifetime warranty; this is because the guides are still plastic and burn with heat, leading to slack. In fact, BMWs are typically changed around this mileage, or even earlier to be safe.

On Hyundai, the tensioners fail around 130,000 miles; these vehicles have two chains, one is very short and does not stretch easily, but for the other, the YouTuber recommends changing the guides and the tensioner, as well as the camshaft sprockets, because if the teeth are worn, it will negatively affect the new chain.

If you drive many miles in the city, it is better to bring forward the replacement to 100,000 miles.
