If the handbrake lever has a long travel, it’s because as the shoes wear or the cables stretch, the lever's travel tends to increase. You can adjust it using a specific adjuster located under the vehicle floor, directly beneath the handbrake lever. Once the vehicle is raised, the plate housing the cables leading to the rear wheel shoes is visible, with a threaded bar and a nut that allows for adjustment.
