In the Jeep Renegade, as well as in other vehicles, the Start and Stop system is designed to turn off the engine when the gearbox is in neutral and the driver releases the clutch. The engine restarts when the driver presses the clutch pedal again and engages first gear.

There are certain conditions that can prevent the Start and Stop system from functioning, causing it to deactivate automatically: for example, when the engine has not yet reached the optimal operating temperature, or when the battery is not in good condition.

Another important factor is if the air conditioning is on, which creates a difference between the ambient temperature and the required temperature.
