How to replace the engine oil filter on a Kia Rio? Follow these steps for the replacement: lift the car on a jack or column lift, and using a socket wrench, unscrew the large securing bolt of the container where the oil filter is located (if necessary, remove the plastic protection panel). Remove the worn oil filter and position a new one, then unscrew the bolt of the oil sump; let the fluid drain into a container. Finally, open the car door and pull up the engine compartment release lever located at the bottom left of the dashboard, lift the bonnet and top up with the new fluid.
