What to Do When an Electronic Tailgate Won't Open

If the electronic tailgate of your car won't open, fold down the rear seatback to access the boot from the inside. Look for the manual release mechanism, which on Kia/Hyundai is located in the panel with a white lever. The first thing to check is the wires in the sheath near the hinge: continuous movement can break the internal cables. Pull the sheath and check for any broken wires. If the wires are fine, the problem may be the external button; check the rubber cover. If it is damaged, water and moisture can enter, and water can corrode the circuit board, as shown in the video.
