Position of the Crankshaft Sensor on the Kia Sorento

The sensor is always located near the crankshaft pulley (flywheel) but the exact position varies according to the engine type. For the 2.4 GDI petrol engines, it is found on the right side of the engine when viewed from the front, situated above the crankshaft pulley, near the timing belt; access is from underneath the car or through the right wheel arch, and it appears as a connector with 2 fastening screws. On the 3.3/3.5 Lambda engine, it is located on the front right side of the engine, mounted on the engine block, in front of the pulley. Access often requires removing the air filter and sometimes the right wheel: on the 2.2 CRDi engines, it is located on the front left side of the engine, near the alternator pulley, and this is the easiest access: from above.
