How to Remove the Steering Wheel on a Freelander

Want to replace the steering wheel on your Land Rover Freelander? Let's look at removing the airbag and the steering wheel. Disconnect the battery terminals before removing the airbag from the steering wheel. Insert a screwdriver into the holes at the back of the steering wheel and unscrew the airbag securing screws. Once the airbag is released, disconnect its power connectors and remove it from the steering wheel. Unscrew the large central nut and remove the steering wheel from the column. Fit the new steering wheel onto the steering column and tighten the securing nut, then reconnect the various airbag power connectors: press the airbag onto the steering wheel and screw in the securing screws.
