How to Replace the Battery in a Land Rover Freelander

In this video tutorial, see how to replace the battery in a Land Rover Freelander by following some simple steps: lift the bonnet and secure it with the appropriate prop; the battery is located at the rear of the engine bay, so pull forward the clips and remove the battery cover, disconnect the breather pipe from the front of the battery, loosen the securing nut and, with a twisting motion, slide the negative cable clamp off the battery terminal, placing the cable to the side to avoid accidental reconnections. Loosen the securing nut and disconnect the positive cable clamp. Unclip the cable from the battery bay and position it to the side, remove the bolt and take off the battery hold-down. Lift the battery from its place (be careful as the battery is heavy). Maneuver the new battery into position with the negative terminal. Refit the battery clamp and tighten the bolts securely. Slide the positive cable seal into the slot in the battery bay, then firmly press the cable clamp onto the positive terminal of the battery and tighten the clamp nut securely. Press the negative cable clamp onto the terminal and tighten the securing nut. Reconnect the breather pipe to the front of the battery. Apply a little petroleum jelly to the terminals to prevent corrosion. Refit the cover.
