Operation: How to replace the battery in a Land Rover Freelander

In this video tutorial we can see how to replace the battery in a Land Rover Freelander by following a few simple steps: lift the bonnet and secure it with a special rod; the battery is located at the rear of the engine compartment, then pull the clips forward and remove the battery cover, pull the vent hose from the front of the battery, loosen the retaining nut and with a twisting motion, slide off the battery clamp negative lead from the battery terminal, place the lead to one side to prevent accidental reconnection. Loosen the retaining nut and disconnect the positive cable clamp. Unhook the cable from the battery compartment and place it to the side, unscrew the bolt and remove the battery retainer. Lift the battery out of its place (be careful as the battery is heavy). Maneuver the battery into place with the negative terminal. Refit the battery clamp and tighten the bolts securely. Slide the positive cable grommet into the slot in the battery compartment, then press the cable clamp firmly onto the positive battery terminal and tighten the clamp nut securely. Press the negative cable clamp onto the terminal and tighten the retaining nut. Reconnect the breather hose to the front edge of the battery. Smear a little petroleum jelly on the terminals to prevent corrosion. Refit the cover.
