How to Replace the Timing Chain on a Range Rover

If you need to replace the timing chain on this vehicle, remember that this type of maintenance is quite complex and should be performed by experienced personnel. The following description provides general information on how to proceed. First, remove the air ducts and the air filter assembly, then disconnect the upper fan shroud and remove the fan. Next, locate the serpentine belt and loosen the bolt securing the alternator pulley to remove the belt. Then, remove the coolant hose that runs in front. Unscrew the bolts securing the valve cover on both the right and left banks. At this point, insert a pin into the crankshaft pulley and the camshaft pulleys to lock and maintain engine timing. Then, remove the chain cover and take out the tensioners. At this point, you will be able to extract the chain.
