Replacing the Remote Key Battery

Model: Mazda 6 GG, MK 1 - Years 2002-2008

To keep the key functioning as a remote for opening the doors after the existing battery is depleted, simply replace it. To access the button battery compartment, extract the key as you would normally use it. This reveals a catch in the closed key slot, which can be released with a small flathead screwdriver. Remove the key fob part, which can then be opened using the screwdriver. You now have access to the battery, which can be replaced. Finally, reassemble the key.
