How to Replace the Suspension Arm

Model: Mazda 6 GG, MK 1 - Years 2002-2008
Part: Control arm

The first step is to remove the wheel: this will provide access to the double wishbone. Then, undo the lower bolt of the double wishbone. Under the bonnet, there are 3 bolts holding the arm to the upper body, partially undo them to allow some play in the structure. At this point, you need to undo the compression bolt located at the top of the double wishbone: once this is free, you can detach the double wishbone from the structure of the wishbone, using a hammer. Now remove the stabiliser bolt of the anti-roll bar to completely remove the double wishbone. Finish undoing the bolts under the bonnet and voilà! The entire suspension assembly is removed from the car body. To replace the wishbone, compress the suspension spring to access the ends of the wishbone: for this operation, you need a tool that can compress the important spring. You can then undo the upper bolt of the wishbone, which will separate the wishbone from the spring. Replace this component with a new wishbone, and repeat the process in reverse to reassemble the suspension in the car.
