Coolant Temperature Sensor Replacement

Model: Mazda 3 BK, MK 1 - Years 2003-2009

It is advisable to perform this maintenance with the engine cold to avoid unpleasant burns; the coolant temperature sensor is located at the rear right of the engine (when viewed from the front), behind the fourth cylinder. Once the connector is disconnected, use a 19 mm deep socket spanner due to the shape of the sensor; then unscrew the old sensor and install the new one by first hand-tightening it and then securing it with the spanner; finally, reconnect the connector, reset any error with a diagnostic tool, and start the engine to check its operation.
