How to Remove a Shock Absorber on a Mercedes A-Class

Carefully follow these steps to remove a shock absorber on a Mercedes A-Class: Loosen the wheel bolts, lift the car on a column lift, and remove the wheel. Spray the shock absorber with penetrating oil, then use a screwdriver to remove the screws from the plastic inner fender. Next, unscrew the oil line mounting bolts and the vertical arm bolt. If the bolt does not come out, use a hammer and penetrating oil to help. Lower the lift and unscrew the bolts on the engine bay side, then pull the shock absorber out of its housing and separate the spring using the appropriate tool. Insert the new spring, and after it is installed, place the shock absorber back into its housing. First, tighten all the bolts at the top in the engine bay, then secure the bottom. Bolt the vertical arm to the wheel hub and the shock absorber. Tighten all the bolts with their associated parts.
