How to change oil and filters on a Mercedes Sprinter 2.5 W906

Changing the oil on the Sprinter W906 3.0 V6 is straightforward. Start by unscrewing the filler cap and removing the oil filter (located under the airbox) to facilitate draining. Lift the vehicle, place a large container underneath, and unscrew the drain plug with a 13mm socket. Replace the copper washer and tighten the plug to 30 Nm. The oil filter is a cartridge: unscrew the cover with the appropriate tool, replace the cartridge and the two O-rings (lubricate them with oil). Tighten to 25 Nm. Refit the airbox and top up with 12 litres of 5W30 oil (check the level with the dipstick). The service reset is done from the dashboard: key in position 2, hold the "O" button for 20 seconds until you hear a beep, then navigate with "M" to "Reset" and confirm. The recommended interval is 8,000 km to preserve the engine. Remember to dispose of used oil and filters properly at an authorised centre.
