To change the oil and oil filter on the Mercedes-Benz C-Class W203, work with the engine warm, on a flat surface, and safely. Turn off the engine, open the hood, and prepare the upper area to manage the refill and level checks properly. If you need to work under the car, lift the vehicle with suitable equipment and ensure it is stable before entering the underbody area. From below, remove the lower protection if present, addressing the necessary fasteners to access the oil pan. Position a large drain pan and unscrew the drain plug, allowing the oil to completely drain out. During this phase, avoid spilling on nearby rubber components and check the condition of the washer/seal of the plug, replacing it if necessary and if it is no longer in good condition. When the draining is complete, reinstall the plug without overtightening. Next, move to the oil filter: this configuration has a cartridge element in the filter housing in the engine compartment. Unscrew the filter housing cover with the correct tool, extract the cartridge, and replace the cover seals if required, lightly lubricating them with clean oil before reassembly. Insert the new cartridge, close the filter housing, and properly restore each removed component. At this point, pour the new oil through the filler neck using a funnel and proceed gradually, checking the level with the dipstick. Start the engine for a few seconds and turn it off, then wait a few minutes and recheck the level, adjusting it only if necessary.
