How to reset a 5GTronic Mercedes gearbox

This operation resets the adaptive memory of the gearbox, allowing it to relearn the driver's driving style. Turn on the instrument cluster and press the accelerator pedal fully for 20 to 50 seconds. After this time, turn off the ignition without releasing the accelerator pedal. Wait another 5 seconds with the ignition off, then finally release the accelerator pedal. Now, without touching anything, wait five minutes, after which remove the key from the ignition (if applicable) and wait a few seconds. Then reinsert the key (or press the button) and start the engine normally. The gearbox is now reset. From this point, the control unit will begin a new learning procedure to adapt to your driving style.
