How to Restore the Auxiliary Battery on a Mercedes

Mercedes vehicles come equipped with two batteries: the standard battery that powers the starter motor for ignition and all other electrical systems, and a second auxiliary battery primarily used for the start-stop system. The first battery is located in the engine compartment at the front, while the auxiliary battery is also in the engine compartment but under a protective cover just below the windscreen on the right side. To access it, lift this plastic cover and disconnect the two power terminals, always disconnecting the negative first and then the positive.
