The auxiliary belt tensioner has a pneumatic damping system, which means it is equipped with a small shock absorber (which is actually a gas spring) that helps reduce vibrations in the system. If it gets damaged, you can replace just the dampener available as a loose spare part, without having to buy the entire tensioner.

Replacing it is very simple; just unscrew the mounting pins of the shock absorber (although the lower one is a bit harder to reach since it is located right behind the pulley: in any case, just unscrew it without removing it from its seat), remove it from its seat, and install the new one.

How to Remove the Rear Seat of a Hyundai Tucson?

To remove the rear seat of a Hyundai Tucson, follow these steps. Start by moving the front seats to their most forward position to gain space. Next, locate the release lever on the underside of the rear seat, near the floor. Press this lever down while pulling the seat upwards to unlock it from the anchor pins.
