The main causes could be for example a faulty injector, or the catalyst is too dirty, or the lambda probe no longer works. Furthermore, when the catalyst is overheated, the warning light comes on if you are driving very aggressively. Or The particulate filter is clogged or the fuel is poor or unsuitable. So, as we have seen, the causes of this warning light come on are many so if you notice the engine light on, stop your Mercedes A-Class as soon as possible and call a mechanic for a tow in the garage.
