Removing Plastic Trim Moldings

Model: Mercedes Sl MK 5, R129 - Years 1989-2001

The plastic trim moldings along the lower edge of the doors are secured with retaining clips but have tabs at the ends for proper anchoring: you must be very careful during the removal phase not to damage them. Start with the molding on the rear fender: the first tab is located on the upper edge near the wheel and attaches to the edge of the fender; then, pull this tab outward and release the upper retaining clips before moving to the lower ones, considering the other two tabs on the lower edge of the molding that attach to the rocker panel. To remove the door molding, first remove the screw on the inner edge, release the retaining clips along the lower edge, and then slide it backward since the upper clips have a sliding housing. Finally, for the front fender molding, remove the screws inside the front pillar and detach it while keeping the door open.
