Repairing the Convertible Top Interior Lining

Model: Mercedes Sl MK 5, R129 - Years 1989-2001

Over time, the interior lining of the convertible top may sag, no longer adhering perfectly and taking on a wavy appearance: you can intervene to pull and stretch it, eliminating those unsightly wrinkles. At the front of the top, in the area where it attaches to the windshield pillar, there is a plastic strip beneath which the lining is secured: it is sufficient to remove the plastic cover, pull the lining to stretch it as much as possible, and reapply it. Start by removing the cover located at the center of the strip, just above the rearview mirror, by unscrewing the corresponding mounting screws; then disconnect the pressure mounting clips and proceed as described.
