Installing a tow bar is not generally a DIY task, as it must be homologated (the tow bar comes with a compliance certificate that certifies its specific characteristics for the vehicle, along with the mounting instructions and the necessary kit). The tow bar must be tested by a civil engineering technician who will confirm that the installation is done correctly and update the vehicle registration document. For this reason, the installation must be carried out by an authorised workshop capable of issuing a compliance document for the installation. In any case, fitting the tow bar only requires securing a bar under the rear axle of the vehicle using specific support brackets; it is also necessary to drill some holes, the positions of which are marked by specific paper drilling templates. After securing the bar, connect the electrical wiring to power the socket that will send signals to the trailer.
