Replacing the Crankshaft Pulley

If you hear a loud noise coming from the front of the engine, like a pronounced squeak, the rubber component at the centre of the crankshaft pulley may be damaged. This pulley has a rubber part between the central disc that attaches to the crankshaft and the outer part that the auxiliary belt runs on, which dampens vibrations. To replace the pulley, first obtain the appropriate tool to hold the crankshaft in position while unscrewing the pulley’s fixing bolt. Then, remove the air filter housing for better access, place a tool to lock the pulley, and unscrew the central bolt. Loosen the tensioner to remove the auxiliary belt, complete the removal of the bolt, and extract the old pulley before inserting the new one (the keyway serves as a reference) and reassemble in reverse order.
