Mercedes Clk - Video tutorial

Model: Mercedes Clk W208 - Years 1997-2003
Part: Engine
Operation: Crankshaft pulley replacement

If you hear a loud noise coming from the front of the engine, such as a very accentuated squeak, it is possible that the rubber part in the center of the crankshaft pulley has been damaged: this pulley in fact has a rubber part between the central disk for fixing to the black shaft and the external one on which the auxiliary belt slides and which has the function of damping vibrations; to be able to replace the pulley it is first of all essential to have the appropriate tool to keep the crankshaft in position while the pulley fixing pin is unscrewed; then remove the air filter container to have more room for maneuver, place the bowl to lock the pulley and unscrew the central pin; loosen the tensioner to remove the auxiliary belt, complete the disassembly of the pin and extract the old pulley and then insert the new one (the keyway serves as a reference) and proceed backwards for fastening.
