How to replace the engine oil filter on the Mercedes W201

Replacing the engine oil filter and the oil itself is a fairly simple task that you can carry out independently by following our guide and the video tutorial. The first steps are to open the bonnet and the oil filler cap before lifting the car. After lifting the car, clean the sump plug with a cleaner and then remove it to drain the entire oil reservoir. Proceed to the second step, which is to remove the oil filter; you must first lower the car and unscrew the bolt that secures it. Use a 76mm spanner to remove the filter. Lubricate the new filter and install it on the vehicle. Refit the bolt and proceed to fill the oil reservoir. You will need 5 litres of oil. Once added, close the cap.
