Overview of the parking assistance system in a Mercedes-Benz B-Class

This video tutorial provides a brief overview of how the parking assistance system works in a Mercedes-Benz B-Class. When you engage reverse, a message appears on the display to activate the parking assistance system; confirm with OK and take your hands off the steering wheel (the system will handle the manoeuvre), then you only need to accelerate and brake (carry out the manoeuvre slowly without exceeding 6 mph). Stop when you hear an audible signal. The system searches for a suitable space that is parallel to the direction of travel and measures its dimensions using ultrasonic sensors. Once a space is identified, the system alerts the driver; the space must be at least one and a half metres wider than the vehicle and one metre longer (for the measurement to be valid, the vehicle speed must not exceed 18 mph). A P appears on the display indicating that measurement is in progress, along with an arrow indicating the identified space. How does it work? A motor on the steering column makes it possible.
