How to Replace the Battery in Mercedes Remote Key

Replacing the battery in the remote key is the same for many Mercedes-Benz models and requires no tools. Start by locating the plastic lever on the back edge of the remote that holds the mechanical key in place. Slide the lever to the side and remove the key from its slot. Use the tip of the key to release the tab that secures the battery cover: right above the lever is a slot where you can insert the tip of the key to press and release the tab. Once the cover is removed, take out the battery (2025) and insert the new one, ensuring the polarity is correct. Then, reapply the cover and insert the key back into its slot.
