How do you replace the steering lock control unit on the Mercedes C-Class?

In order to replace the steering lock control unit on the Mercedes C-Class, you need to completely remove the steering wheel from its housing: to do this, you need to loosen the screws that hold it to the steering column, located at the back of the steering wheel itself. This will allow you to remove the airbag at its center, disconnecting the underlying connectors and then loosening the central nut that secures the steering wheel. At this point, it will be possible to completely remove the piece and proceed by disconnecting the coverings of the steering column and the instrument panel, in order to locate the control unit: this can now be disconnected and removed, replacing it with a new spare part.
