If the shift knob in your Mercedes A-Class W169 is excessively worn and you want to remove it to replace it with a new one, follow the procedure described below. First, ensure the vehicle is turned off and parked safely.

Then, use a flathead screwdriver to remove the leather cover of the knob. Once done, pull the knob upward until it is completely detached.

At this point, you can install the new knob along with the protective cover.
