How to Replace the Gear Shift Knob on a Mercedes A-Class?

To replace the gear shift knob on a Mercedes A-Class, detach the clips at the base of the leather boot of the knob so that it can be fully lifted. After lifting the leather boot, unscrew the retaining ring underneath to free the knob and boot from the gear lever. Then, pull both parts apart completely and insert the new ones. After installation, secure the parts by screwing the ring back on and snapping the clips at the base of the boot.
