Removing the Shift Knob and Ashtray

Model: Mercedes Classe E W211 - Years 2002-2009

For this operation, handle with care to avoid damaging the plastic parts being removed. To remove the shift knob, start by opening the ashtray compartment and inserting your fingers under the shift cover. Then, gently lift the cover around the lever. Disconnect the connectors for the buttons on the panel and carefully slide the cover off the lever, paying attention to the lever's boot. Pull firmly while simultaneously twisting the knob to remove it from the lever. Remove the ashtray and disconnect the connector.
