Removing the Dashboard, Gear Shift Knob, and Ashtray

Model: Mercedes Classe E W211 - Years 2002-2009

Remove the center console by gently lifting it upwards and disconnecting the cigarette lighter connector. Position the gear shift lever in the center and gently push up the trim and cover of the lever while simultaneously moving the gear shift knob in circular motions, pulling it upwards until it is completely removed. Remove the ashtray drawer by disengaging it from the plastic clips at the bottom. Unscrew the nuts inside the tunnel that hold the radio support with the ratchet wrench. At this point, lift the entire console from the tunnel and disconnect the auxiliary service connectors on the back of the radio.
