How to Open the Bonnet of the Mini Cooper

To open the engine compartment bonnet on the Mini Cooper, first locate the lever inside the cabin. You can find it on the driver's side, positioned low on the left, near the hinge of the door. At this point, pull the lever to open the bonnet. Now, to lift the bonnet and gain access to the engine compartment, you need to find a small lever to press with your fingers, located under the front perimeter of the bonnet, slightly to the right (as shown in the images). Once found and pressed, you can lift the bonnet. Job done!

Using a screwdriver or plastic trim tool, pry between the dome light cover and its perimeter (without breaking the plastic), remove the grille from the dome light, and then take out the clear plastic cover.
