How do you open the front bonnet of a Mini? Open the car door and unlock the bonnet release lever. Lift the bonnet slightly and pull the release lever to the left. Once the engine bonnet is unlocked, lift it up and secure it with the prop rod. Once the engine bonnet is open, you can perform maintenance on the car. To close the front bonnet, simply remove the safety rod and let the bonnet fall gently from a minimal height. Ensure it is properly closed at the end of the process.
