The procedure for replacing the timing chain on the Mini Countryman involves opening the bonnet to access the engine compartment and removing the plastic panel on top of the engine. Once the panel is removed, loosen the bolts securing the engine head and those fixing the side cover. This will provide access to the sprockets; in particular, you will need to loosen the central pin of the chain tensioner. By doing this, you can reduce the tension on the chain and replace it with a new one, reinstalling all the components that were removed.
