- Years 2007-2014 To remove and replace the driver's airbag from a Mini proceed as follows: 1) Open the engine compartment. 2) Disconnect the battery. 3) Locate the hole behind the steering wheel that anchors the airbag to the steering wheel. 4) Insert a pin inside the hole and release the spring that keeps the airbag anchored to the steering wheel. 5) Using a hook, disconnect the electrical connections inside the steering wheel. 6) Reinstall everything by pushing the airbag into its seat and remembering to correctly connect the electrical connections including the battery previously disconnected. 7) Check that everything is working correctly and that there are no fault warning lights on.
