Quick Replacement of Rear Brake Pads

Model: Nissan Pathfinder MK 3, R51 - Years 2005-2012

Position the car on a jack to lift the desired wheel. Unscrew the 6 wheel nuts and remove the wheel assembly from the hub. Loosen and then remove the clips holding the protective plate and the brake caliper piston to access the pads. Remove the worn outer pad and place it against the piston, keeping both within the tool you will use to mechanically retract the piston; also remove the worn inner pad from the disc surface and position the two new friction elements in the housing, respectively to the left and right of the brake disc. Next, reposition the plate with the piston, tightening it with the two clips, ensuring there are no abnormal movements or play in the brake assembly. Finally, reposition the wheel on the hub and tighten the 6 wheel nuts. Lower the jack to bring the vehicle back to the ground.
