What to Do if the AdBlue Warning Light Does Not Turn Off After Refuelling on a Nissan Qashqai J11?

If the AdBlue warning light on the Nissan Qashqai does not turn off after refuelling, there are several possible causes: a faulty or dirty level sensor in the tank; an error in the software of the control unit managing the AdBlue system; an incorrect refuelling procedure (for example, if done with the engine running); a fault in the pump, injector, or the control unit itself (less common but possible). You can try leaving it idling for 5 to 10 minutes: sometimes the system takes time to recognise the new level; alternatively, take a 15 to 20-minute drive on an A-road to activate the SCR system and force an update. If your model has a manual reset option, take advantage of it: turn on the ignition and hold the "ok" button on the steering wheel for 10 to 15 seconds. If nothing works, visit a mechanic with advanced diagnostic tools that can read error codes and attempt to reset the AdBlue control unit or force a regeneration of the level sensor. Otherwise, you will need to contact a Nissan dealer: if they suggest replacing the control unit (over £3,000), refuse. For a 2019 vehicle, a software update should suffice.
