On this Nissan Qashqai J10, the reverse sensor has stopped working. The symptoms are clear: no rear lights, the camera does not activate, and nothing appears on the dashboard indicating that reverse is engaged. The sensor is located under the passenger seat, screwed into the gearbox casing. To replace it, you must first drain the gearbox oil. You can find the spare part on Amazon with the code B0CQZ5VBYG for £13.44, with free delivery for Prime customers. It consists of a small piston that acts as a switch: when pressed, engaging reverse turns on the lights and the reverse. The connector has three pins because it has multiple functions; the screw is for draining the gearbox oil, which should be collected in a bucket (then we will dispose of it properly at an authorised centre): changing the oil every 2-3 years helps keep the gearbox healthy. The fill cap is located on the left side of the vehicle, a bit higher up. This is therefore a simple and quick job.
